Binge watchers are 98% more likely to have sleep problems.

New research published in the Journal Of Clinical Sleep Medicine is the first to highlight sleep problems in people who are Binge-watcher. These people are more likely to suffer from chronic fatigue and Insomnia.Not only our favorite Tv shows keep us watching them more, but most TV shows are specially designed to draw us in for a longer period, they boost suspense and Imitate our emotions that drag our attention to plot lines and characters. This can lead to overwhelming emotions that translate into emotional alertness and an inability to sleep early.
The study conducted on 423 young adults, ages 18-25, who completed the online survey. They were asked how often they “binge-watched” shows, defined how many consecutive episodes of one show they have watched. Moreover, they also answered questions about their sleep quality, and how tired or alert they felt the next day. According to the study, the participants who were binge-watchers reported tiredness; some claimed insomnia while some felt alertness right before sleeping. And when they were compared to non-bingers, they had 98% increased the risk of having sleep problems. The study had some interesting finding, such as men binged less than women. However, their viewing sessions were longer on average.
So, if you are a fan of Netflix and regular on avoiding shut-eye for more than twice a week, you may fall into something severe, insomnia.
