Latest New For People With Eczem:
Treatment for Atopic Dermatitis on Face:
FDA has improved a new more effective treatment called Dupixent for people with moderate to severe eczema. Those who suffer from eczema know how painful this skin condition (known as atopic dermatitis) can become. Their skin can become so itchy that they want to rip it from their body. Flare-ups can also be painful causing cracks in the skin and worsen the condition especially when they try to sleep.
Even worst, managing the treatments of the diseases is even harder. The presently available bleach baths, topical steroid creams and compresses are tough to manage and apply.According to Julie Block, President & Chief Executive Officer of the National Eczema Foundation, “Patients with moderate-to-severe atopic dermatitis, controlling the symptoms with topical treatments is hard, and they aren’t very effective.”
But recently, FDA has approved the first biologic for eczema sufferers, especially for adults with moderate-to-severe atopic dermatitis and for those topical treatments are nothing but a great trouble.
The treatment is called Dupixent; it is a self-administered injection containing antibodies – designed to slow down the overactive communication two different types of proteins (IL-4 and IL-13), which are assumed to drive inflammation in patients with atopic dermatitis. The Dupixent can block these proteins from binding to cell receptors and calm the hyperactive immune system and lower the inflammation.
So far, the treatment is giving high hopes by providing promising results. As, in a clinical trial, people who have used 300 mg of Dupixent once every two weeks have seen 75% reduction in the severity of symptoms. Moreover, for the first one of this kind of treatment has been introduced.
